Sookkyung Park

Interlocking lines of paper outline the waves, inspired by the overlapping shapes and lines of traditional Korean roofs. This type of roof is still preserved in urban and rural areas. In addition, to compensate for the shortcomings of the paper, they are folded in multiple layers and interlocked each other. Cool blue means strong will, challenging spirit, and freedom that flows like small waves.

I chose the ebb and tide as the theme to express the conflict of mind I always face. Just like the ebb and tide are breathing and changing the sea, I did this in hopes of myself moving forward in that change. To better convey this breathing feeling, the dark blue was painted as a base, and then gradually finished with light blue and white. Also, in order to express the fragments of life as works, many papers were folded and produced.
